The Best Spring Cleaning Tips

Springtime is here! Flowers are blooming, pollen is pollinating, and bright colors are making a return. Spring brings us new beginnings and a desire to start fresh. But while Mother Nature is thriving, some of us are having a slow start and Spring cleaning remains a dreadful task on our to-do list. Here are some helpful tips to bring your Spring cleaning skills out of hibernation:

Make a plan. Before you start cleaning, take some time to make a plan. This will help you to stay organized and avoid feeling overwhelmed. Decide which rooms you want to clean first and then make a list of the tasks that need to be done in each room.

Start with the easy stuff. If you're feeling overwhelmed, start with the easy stuff first. This might include dusting, vacuuming, or mopping. Once you've taken care of the easy stuff, you can move on to the more challenging tasks.

Declutter. One of the best ways to spring clean is to declutter your home. This means getting rid of any items that you no longer use or need. Go through each room and donate, sell, or throw away anything that you don't want. I'm personally gearing up to sell items at our neighborhood garage sale.

Clean surfaces. Once you have decluttered, it's time to clean the surfaces in your home. This includes dusting, vacuuming, and mopping. Be sure to use the appropriate cleaning products for each surface.

Clean appliances. Don't forget to clean your appliances, too. This includes your refrigerator, stove, oven, and dishwasher. Remember to run a clean cycle on your washer and dryer.

Clean windows. Don't forget the windows! Get rid of all those fingerprints and water marks.

Take breaks. Spring cleaning can be tiring, so be sure to take breaks. Get up and move around every 20-30 minutes.

Reward yourself. Once you've finished a task, give yourself a small reward. This might be watching your favorite TV show, reading a book, or taking a nap.

Have fun! Spring cleaning doesn't have to be a chore. Make it fun by listening to a new album or podcasts while you work.

Spring cleaning can be a lot of work, but it's worth it to have a clean and refreshed home. By following these tips, you can make spring cleaning easier and more enjoyable. Happy cleaning!
